Spurs season reflection

With 12 games into the season Spurs currently sit 9th in the league with 9 points, whereas this time last season they sat 5th in the league on 21 points. What's gone wrong for Rehanne Skinner's side?

Despite a successful January transfer window, due to the new signing of Bethany England, Tottenham are struggling to keep clean sheets.

The England international signed from Chelsea on a record deal of £250,000 beating Lauren James' £200,000 deal in 2021 from her move to the Blues from Manchester United. Since her departure from Emma Hayes' squad, England has made her mark in the team, as she has become the Spurs top goal scorer with 5 goals.

Although Tottenham have seemed to strengthen their squad they have had a worse start than previous seasons. So far they have conceded 24 goals and scored 15 goals, however at this stage last season they conceded 11 goals and scored 16.

This suggests a weakness in defence, as opposed to their attacking abilities. But with 5 losses recently, will they be able to climb the table before the season finishes?

Rehanne Skinner looks ahead to their FA Cup game against Reading, shrotly followed by the return of the Women's Super League, where they face 3rd placed Manchester City- who are unbeaten in 11 league games.
