How West Ham’s new signings have transformed their season!

The Hammers’ signed 3 players in the January window and all players have already made a huge impact.

These players consist of; American star Kristie Mewis, Australian midfielder Katrina Gorry and Canadian CB Shelina Zadorsky.

You could tell there was a huge difference in quality added to their play when both Mewis and Gorry came on in the second half against Tottenham Hotspur, with the American getting an assist. Since their first game they have played another 3 league games against Bristol City, Arsenal and Everton. The Hammers have gained 6 points with 3 of them coming at home against 2nd place Arsenal and the other 3 coming in the crucial game away against Bristol City to move the Hammers off bottom.

For so long, West Ham manager, Rehanne Skinner has made it clear how she wants her team to play and the formation she wants them to play in and it is looking like she has finally found the fix. West Ham are playing a lot more attacking and controlled football, whilst also having more possession. Up until January they had the worse average in the league for keeping the ball.

Also, since bringing in CB Zadorsky they have conceded a lot less per game. Skinner knew Zadorsky from her time at Spurs and in a recent interview she went in to say “Zardorsky is a player I know very well on and off the pitch and someone who knows exactly what I want from a CB”. This seems to have been proven in the games she has played so far.

The only issue that could occur for next season is Zadorsky is only on loan from Tottenham until the end of the season and the midfield pair have only signed 6 month contracts. For the Hammers’ sake they will hope all players sign new contracts in the summer to extend their stay in East London.

If all players sign and potentially the Claret and Blue side add a few more quality players to the squad, there is a high chance they could be set for a very good season, especially when captain Dagny Brynjarsdottir will be back.

How well do you think West Ham will do in the last 8 games on the season?
