Arsenal vs Lyon Preview

Arsenal will host Lyon on Thursday 15th December at the Emirates Stadium, in the hopes to secure them a spot in the UEFA Women’s Champions League quarter-finals.

The defending champions Lyon currently sit in second with 7 points, so every point is crucial to go forwards in the competition.

With 3 wins out of a possible 4, the Gunners are favourites to win.

Team news:

Skipper Kim Little, as well as goal scorers Beth Mead and Lina Hurtig, are all out due to injury.

However, Leah Williamson has returned to the WSL, and will continue this appearance in tomorrow’s game.

Lyon have their fair share of injuries, with trio Ada Hegerberg, Griedge Mbock and Catarina Macario watching from the sidelines.

Who to look out for:

Vivianne Miedema has replicated her clinical ability from the WSL, as she has found the net twice in her 4 appearances. The Red Army also provide an attacking front from Caitlin Foord, who has further increased their goal difference.

French forward Melvine Malard is a key threat to the leaders defence, as she has a consistent record of 4 goals for the 4 games in the group stage.

Previous meeting:

An impressive 5 goals found the back of Lyon’s net, whilst the defending side retaliated with a goal. Have Lyon recovered from this demoralising game ahead of tomorrow?
