Will Arsenal regret letting Vivianne Miedema leave this summer?

The Dutch superstar will be leaving when her contract runs out at the end of the season after 7 years at the club.

The first thing everyone is confused about is how the Women’ s Super League top goal scorer was not offered another contract. The striker has had some injury issues in the last year, but she is only 27 and her talents are still sky high. Also letting someone with so much quality leave on a free is confusing as she could have been worth many thousands if not millions.

It is looking like she will be carrying on playing in the WSL but for one of Arsenal’s top of the table rivals, Manchester City. By staying in the WSL, it will allow her to extend her goal scoring tally and potentially stay as the WSL top goal scorer for many years. The striker is currently on 79 goals and has said before how she wants to make the 100 club. She has scored 125 goals for Arsenal in her time whilst also having 50 assists to her name; she has completed this in 7 years with the Gunners.

The 27-year-old has won many honours at the club including the Continental League Cup and the WSL title in 2018/19 season. She also has plenty of personal accolades including London’s Player Of The Year, PFA Player Of The Year and the England’s writers’ association Player of The Year.

With all these successes that the striker has brought to herself she has had to go through many hard times with injury, she was one of many Arsenal players to have an ACL injury last season. She has been back playing since then but missed many other games due to injury, hopefully after a full summer’s rest she will be back playing and scoring many goals.

Since the decision has been announced that Arsenal are not going to renew the Dutch international's contract, it seems like she was having issues with current manager Jonas Eidevall nearing the end of her contract. But whatever the actual reason is it has left many Gunners shocked that she will be leaving and that also she may be wearing a rival’s shirt.

Do you think Arsenal will regret this decision?
