West Ham vs Manchester City preview
It’s 4th against 5th in the hunt for top 4, as West Ham take on Manchester City in the
Women’s Super League.
With the 5th placed club West Ham having a vast scoring record especially at home, they
will hope this carries on into the second half of the season.
Dagny Brynjarsdóttir and Viviane Asseyi are a major factor in the Hammers scoring record
with a combined 9 goals between them in their 10 WSL games. Asseyi also has 3 assists is the
league.
Manchester City have always had a high scoring rate especially this season, scoring 21 goals
in 9 WSL games.
Before the Christmas break, the Hammers struggled defensively by conceding 18 in 10
league games.
With Man City’s inform attackers Khadija Monifa Shaw with 8 goals and Chloe Kelly having 4
assists to her name.
West Ham will have to defend a lot better than they have done this season to hope not to
concede.
West Ham have let three of their first team players leave in the transfers window including
back up striker, Claudia Walker. They have recently signed Amber Tysak who’s a 22-year-old
defender.
Paul Konchesky’s side have been hit with many injuries this season, including many defenders but it looks like Hawa Cissoko and Lucy Parker are back to full fitness. This will
give the Irons a major boost in defence.
The match will be played Sunday 15th January at 6:45pm at the Chigwell Construction
Stadium.
This game will also be shown live on Sky Sports.
