West Ham vs Anderlecht Preview: Can the Hammers secure top spot?

West Ham once again face Belgian side Anderlecht in the Conference League this week at the London Stadium.

The two sides faced off at Lotto Park last week, and West Ham squeezed past Anderlecht thanks to Gianluca Scamaccas goal.

The Hammers could secure themselves as group winners and book their place in the Round of 16 with a win at the London Stadium, but would need Silkeborg to drop points against FCSB.

This would be the ideal scenario for David Moyes, as it would allow him to rest players for the final 2 group games, ahead of a busy schedule before the World Cup.

West Ham will be without a few players for tomorrow’s match, most notably Michail Antonio who missed training today due to illness, but could potentially still feature.

Maxwel Cornet and Nayef Aguerd will also continue their spell on the sidelines, but Moyes provided an update on the Moroccan defender in his press conference.

“Aguerd is beginning to make his way, he’s done quite a bit out on the grass, I'm hoping next week he might join bits of the football”.

Moyes was also asked about the club's recent form, and he said “We are beginning to go in the right direction”. “There’s maybe one or two things that haven’t gone our way”.

Tomorrow’s game is available to watch in the UK on BT Sport, with the game kicking off at 8pm.
