The Hammers have already taken a massive hit for next season, with Kate Longhurst and England international Lucy Parker leaving the club.
West Ham have also let go of Grace Fisk, Sophie Hillyerd and Brooke Cairns. Whilst Paul Konchesky has also left his managerial rolls.
When their new directors- Karen Brady, Tara Warren and Nicola Keye- came in March, they made it clear that West Ham needs to rebuild a new look. With this, it is looking like they are doing so, by removing players they don’t believe will fit their model for years to come.
With this in mind, losing Parker will be a huge loss for the club. The England international has played 40 games for the Hammers in 3 seasons. However, last season the 24 year old experienced many setbacks, due to the injuries she sustained over the campaign.
Club legend Kate Longhurst is looking likely to retire and will be another huge miss for the Irons, not just on the pitch but off the pitch too. The West Ham fan played over 100 games for her club, whilst playing over 90 matches in the WSL.
The club have managed to keep their club captain and last season top goal scorer, Dagny Brynjarsdottir, who has confirmed to stay with the club for another year. This is a huge plus for West Ham.
The clubs Hammer of the year scored 6 goals last season in the Women’s Super League.
Whilst West Ham still haven’t got a new manager just yet, it is looking unlikely they will be bringing in any new signings soon. The transfers window doesn’t close until September, but for a club that are trying to compete with the top 5, they will want a new manager in and their business to be completed soon.
The Hammers came 8th last season, so in this transfers window a lot needs to be done if they want to start competing with the top 4 in the WSL.
