The Press Box: The Hottest Football Podcast Out There!

The Woodwork not only provides insightful and absorbing articles, but a range of audio and visual content too. Our flagship show is called The Press Box, and here's everything you need to know about the it!

Episode 1: Welcome To The Press Box!

Our first podcast is brought to you by founder of The Woodwork Daniel Marshall alongside co-host and co-founder Lucy Casey. The duo express their footballing journey, speak about the reason they attended UCFB and where The Woodwork idea stemmed from.

Dan and Lucy communicate their dynamic personalities and calamitous friendship whilst also discussing some key news topics of the week, including the North London Derby, the controversial red card awarded to Alex Greenwood against Chelsea and ranking every Premier League home kit.

The first episode is the longest and certainly one of the best, setting up The Press Box in great fashion.

Episode 2: Rio Rosenberg

Dan and Lucy welcomed the Press Box's first guest in episode 2, as Rio Rosenberg joined the panel. Rio discussed falling in love with the beautiful game by playing it from an early age, and the struggles of having to look for a career in football off the pitch, as she struggled with injuries.

She shared her working-class story, her mentality that has been the driving force in her route into the sports media, along with the pressure on young people's shoulders these days.

To conclude, they turn to another tier list, as they rate WSL stadiums based on atmosphere and architecture, touching on Lucy's first steps into a football stadium.

Episode 3: Ryan Isaac

Former UCFB student Ryan Isaac visited the panel for the third episode, providing a great insight as to the struggles of university and how he made it in the footballing industry without a degree.

Ryan discussed his beloved Wycombe Wanderers and how much of a joy it is to work for the club he grew up loving. He provided incredible intuition as to the workings of a football club and how he interacts with supporters in his role as a ticketing executive, as well as discussing the highs and lows of being a Chairboys fan.

The gang also ranked EFL fanbases and discussed the racist abuse towards Newport's Omar Bogle, an hour long listen packed with insight and entertainment.

Episode 4: Redford Elton

Episode four sees perhaps the most well-known guest visit the studio, as Redford Elton joins the show. Host and creator of the Fans' Perspective, Redford conversed about his travels up and down the country following football and the challenges he has faced in the crowded market that is content creation.

Dan and Lucy also welcomed George Edwards (sound familiar?) to the show as a co-host and researcher as the panel quizzed Redford about stadium names, putting Redford's travels to the test.

Redford also discusses life as a second year student at UCFB and the biggest rip-offs he has been exposed to as a football fan whilst England's midfield options are weighed up ahead of the Euros.

Episode 5: Mr and Mrs

Following a hiatus for Christmas, the trio returned in style with the customary laughs and alleged insight that they provide. Arsenal's title and European chances were discussed alongside Nottingham Forest and Burnley's survival chances, the teams supported by our presenters.

We also see the addition of 'gallery cam', meaning the production team led by UCFB students Maisie Baldwin and Ellie Byrne is involved in the show, while George quizzed Dan and Lucy on their footballing friendship. The pair were pitted against each other to see who knows the other better in a footballing version of the 'Mr and Mrs' gameshow and the results were controversial to say the least...

To round off, the WSL attendance record was looked over along with Kylian Mbappe's potential and surely inevitable exit of PSG.

Episode 6: Megan Abbott

Perhaps the most intriguing interview of yet, The Press Box had the pleasure of interviewing thriving UCFB student Megan Abbott, and she did not disappoint.

Megan spoke all about her footballing routes in Maidstone to captaining the Women's UCFB side plus her insane experience managing on the Wembley Stadium pitch, along with some of the games greats.

Megan was then pitted against Dan and Lucy on managers who have won some of the most prestigious competitions in football, before the usual delve into news topics and the panels predictions for the end of the season.

Episode 7: Role swap

Quite possibly the most entertaining watch as of yet, this chaotic episode saw the presenting trio swap roles with each other and the gallery, a move that provided many thrills and spills.

In the beginning the gang explored how I grew to love football, despite supporting Nottingham Forest, and why I chose UCFB, before the dreaded swap.

We see tumultuous transitions, exquisite hosting and the usual hot takes, a different side to the podcast but one that makes for thrilling viewing.

And we're not done yet. The Press Box has a packed schedule between now and the end of the season, interviews with incredible people doing incredible things and plenty of laughs along the way. Our weekly podcast is viewable on The Woodwork's YouTube page and available to listen on Spotify, so plug in and get viewing!
