The highs and lows of Tomas Soucek’s West Ham career.

The Czech has played 122 games for the Hammers and has scored 22 goals.

The defensive midfielder signed from the Czech club Slavia Prague on loan in 2020, but very shortly after, West Ham made it official on a three-year contract which he has recently extended.

His career with the Hammers started so well and he became a fan favourite right from the start. Being a defensive midfielder with an eye for goal, with the set piece quality that West Ham have, he was always going to be getting in the box to score goals.

But his game started to change in the 2022/23 season, when he saw himself starting on the bench more often that not. As a team, West Ham didn’t excel in the league, with Soucek acting as a scapegoat for the Hammers' shortcomings. Throughout that season he managed to score three goals in 58 games. He has already scored more this season.

The 28-year-old helped West Ham win the Europa Conference League that season and in the final he played a huge part, winning the ball back which allowed the Hammers to go on and score their winning goal. He also won this tournament playing in his home nation and since this game his career has risen so high.

Since the start of this season, he has been doing what he does best, making late runs into the box, resulting in seven goals, with four of them coming in the league. His last minute runs have also allowed us to win two games in a row in the 90th minute due to his well timed runs in the dying embers against Burnley and Backa Topola.

The Czech international has a goal in each of his last five for club and country, with two of them coming in the 90th minute to help the Hammers in the league and in Europe. How long can his scoring run can go on for?
