The European qualifiers group of death!

After all teams playing 2 games it is looking set that the Republic of Ireland are the first team who will not be making the Euros next year.

Going into this group, Republic of Ireland were the team most likely to finish bottom. Hope isn’t all lost yet for the Irish due to Sweden failing to win against France on Tuesday, but in their next games it’s a must they get some points on the board. This does mean when Ireland play Sweden both home and away they will be hoping to gather 6 points, this will not be easy and for the girls in green as Sweden will try to use Ireland to find a way to get back to winning ways.

After the Republic of Ireland managed to qualify for last years World Cup their was a lot of belief going around the nation that there could also be a chance that they make the Euros but due to how unlucky their group is and how some results have gone for them so far it’s not looking too good for automatic qualification.

The play-offs offer an alternative path not only for Ireland but also for one of the top six sides in the world in England, France or Sweden.

The table as it stands is France in top position with 6 points, England on 4, Sweden on 1 and the Republic of Ireland on 0. So far only 2 games have been played, the next round of fixtures will be at the end of May/ start of June when England play France at St. James' Park and then in France. These games could change everything for the Lionesses.

Just as vital will be the games between Ireland and Sweden.

How do you think this group will look at the end of the qualifiers?
