The Egyptian King limps off injured

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah limped off injured in a thrilling 2-2 AFCON group stage encounter with Ghana.




It has also been published that he will be going back to Liverpool to receive treatment from the Liverpool staff and he will be hoping to return for Egypt in their knockout games should all of his rehab go well and he is then given the green light by the Liverpool medical staff.


Egypt are currently sat in 2nd having drawn their opening game 2-2 in a thrilling encounter with Mozambique which saw Mohamed Salah play a vital part in it.


Egypt found themselves ahead in just the 2nd minute of the game thanks to a well taken goal from Mostafa Mohamed. But shortly into the 2nd half they let Mozambique take the lead thanks to goals from Witi and Clesio Bauque.


But then in the 97th minute Egypt were given a lifeline after Mostafa Mohamed was brought down inside the box and up stepped Mohammed Salah and he slotted it to his left side but it took a deflection off the post and went in.





They then played Ghana on Thursday and it was a very close opening half of football with neither side being able to convert their chances into goals but in added time in the 1st half, Mohamed Salah limped off the pitch injured.





Mohammed Kudus scored to put Ghana 1-0 up going into half time. After 69 minutes, Egypt finally got a goal thanks to an interception from Omar Marmoush who calmly slotted it past an on rushing Ofori in the Ghana net. Then less than 1 minute after the equaliser, Kudus found himself in space inside the box and curled his effort into the bottom corner to put Ghana back ahead with just 20 mins to play.


But Egypt were not done and they somehow found an equaliser after some good play from Trezeguet saw him pass the ball to Mohamed who slotted through the goalkeeper's legs to draw level.


Egypt will host group leaders Cape Verde tonight knowing that should they win hey will have secured themselves a spot in the knockout stages of the 2024 AFCON competition.




Mohammed Salah has been extremely vital for Egypt and their squad as he has made over 96 appearances for the national team scoring 54 goals for the team. He has also proven his worth at Liverpool winning three Golden Boots in the six seasons he has been at the club.


He has played 322 games and scored 194 goals and this makes him the highest scoring African player in the Premier League. He has also played a massive role in helping to bring trophies back to Liverpool and in the time he has been on Merseyside he has won the Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup, Community Shield and Carabao Cup.
