Super Sargent Hits A Brace As The Canaries Beat Millwall
Norwich City got a very important 3 point in the race for promotion back to the Premier league. Norwich City with this result boost them up to 5th and after 2 wins in under a week it has given the whole club a lift which has been fundamentally important after the abysmal season that they had last season.
Norwich City had a lot of the ball with very little end product as we tried to breakdown the Millwall defence who put up with the Norwich pressure very well. Norwich managed to get the first shot off thanks to some intricate play between Daniel Sinani and Kieran Dowell and he took the shot and it went well wide of the right-hand post.
Norwich struggled to big time to break down the Millwall defence until again Daniel Sinani played a through ball to Liam Gibbs in the midfield on the 15th minute it was deflected and made a comfortable save for Bartosz Bialkowski in the Millwall net.
Not long after that then Norwich won a two free kicks in quite quick succession and both of them have were quite close to the Millwall Penalty areas but both of them were quite poor and came to nothing.
Then Millwall had one of their chances when Tyler Burley found himself with space on the wing he then put the ball into the box and found the head of George Honeyman but he headed it well over the bar and didn’t trouble Tim Krul in the Norwich net.
Then just after the half an hour mark Millwall had another opportunity through Benik Afobe who successfully flicked the ball narrowly over the bar after a very good cross from Muarry Wallace.
This then brought half time which was a perfect opportunity for Norwich to use this time to go and get a good team talk as they had been miles clear in terms of possession and movement off the ball but just never really wanted to take the shot. Millwall will wanting to be much the same as they were really good defensively in the first half.
It did not take Norwich long to put themselves ahead just five minutes after half time some intricate play between Daniel Sinani and Josh Sargent who found himself in the Millwall area and then slotted it home to put the Canaries 1-0 up which is what they deserve after dominating for a majority of this game.
Josh Sargent then found himself again through on goal after he was able to close down the keeper block one of his clearances and only just missed the goal after a good save from the Millwall keeper and gave Norwich another corner but it came to nothing and was cleared by the Millwall defence.
Sargent then went on to get his 2nd goal with 15 minutes to go after winning the ball on the half way line and then giving Dowell the ball who took it to the Millwall penalty area and then Sargent put it into the bottom corner making sure that the keeper wasn’t going to save it and put the Canaries 2-0 up.
The last chance of the game was for Millwall and their new signing Andreas Voglsammer found himself some space just outside of the box which forced a very important save from Tim Krul and this was the only real shot that he had to save.
Norwich took all 3 points and this puts them into the play off place in 5th whilst Millwall find themselves just outside the play offs in 7th. Norwich next game is the long trip up to newly promoted Sunderland for lunch time kick off and they will be hoping to win and boost their promotion hopes even further.
