Spurs Are Soaring This Season!

Ange Postecoglou took up the position of Tottenham Hotspur manager at the start of this season. Currently in week 9 of the Premier League Spurs are flying, sitting in 4th in the table but with the chance to go top tonight.

Tottenham have won few trophies this century, with none since the Carling Cup in the 2007/2008 season. The last time Spurs won a trophy prior to this was in the 1998/1999 season. Due to these trophy cabinet struggles, the London club have been through multiple managers in the last decade. Since 2001, Tottenham have had 18 managers, winning only one major trophy in this time frame. The most successful Tottenham manager this decade has been Mauricio Pochettino, who took them to a Champions League Final back in 2019 against Liverpool. However, they were not successful, and they lost 2-0.

Spurs have not had recent success and they have not been meeting the highest standards in the Premier League. The table shows their league standings over the last 6 seasons.

Spurs have not had a top-two finish in the Premier League since the 2016/17 season, when they were under Mauricio Pochettino. However, Ange Postecoglou has transformed them the season. They are currently unbeaten in this Premier League campaign; playing 8, winning 6 and drawing 2.

Ange Postecoglou has made history, becoming the first Australian to win the Premier League Manager of the Month. He has won the award back to back this season, winning it in August and also in September. The last manager to win Manager of the Month in consecutive months was Jurgen Klopp in the 2019/20 season. Liverpool went on to win their first Premier League title that season.

There have been talks about Ange Postecoglou being possibly the most successful Tottenham manager of all time. He has a long way to go but he has got off to a flying start. 2x Scottish Champion and 2x Scottish League Cup winner already, he has success in his managerial career and he is hoping his transfer to the Premier League elevates his career.

Tottenham face Fulham tonight at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium tonight and if they win, this will take them to the top of the premier league table. We will see tonight if they can snatch all three points.
