Sheffield utd vs Norwich match review

Pressure mounts on Dean Smith as another abysmal 2nd half performance saw Norwich hav a 2-0 lead but then give it up after a very very poor 2nd half performance and inability to finish off balls in the final third.

Norwich went into this game with a need to win to help keep them in the chance of the automatic promotion race but after 3 losses on the bounce they drop further and further down the table and now sit just outside the play off places.

Sheffield United have come into the game off the back of a 1-0 loss to Coventry away from home and has meant that they came into this game wanting to win because they have not won a single match since 17th September and they was one of the favourite teams to go up in the promotion places.

Sheffield United start off the game with a majority of the ball in the first few minutes of the game and it was obvious what Norwich wanted to do which was press them high up the pitch and this was obvious and just after the 3rd minute a Sheffield United player played it back to the game who tried to clear it but Teemu Pukki was there to close him down and made sure he put the ball into the back of his net to put the Canaries 1-0 up.

Then Teemu Pukki was found and went in between 2 defenders and then allowed himself to run a little and then was able to tuck it home into the bottom corner now putting them 2-0 up sending the 2,700 travelling fans into pandemonium.

Sheffield then went on to enjoy a lot of the ball but Norwich managed to defend the ball but after this Sheffield had a number of shots through Rhian Brewster who had a header glanced wide of the goal and put loads of pressure on Norwich. Then not long after that Angus Gunn was forced to make a number of saves and Anel Ahmedhodzic would have been left more frustrated as he came so close to scoring.

Norwich then came out in the 2nd half looking like completely different team and they performed abysmally struggled to string a couple of passes together and this has been the story of almost every Norwich performance this season sadly.

Then the inevitable happened and Sheffield United scored after Ben Osbourne found himself at the back post with space and made sure he put it into the back of the net halving the Blades deficit to just 1. Then after just a few minutes of pressure it told when Oli McBurnie then headed in off the post to equalise for the Blades.

Norwich had penalty in 89th minute but it was a extremely poor penalty by Pukki standards and was saved quite comfortably by the Sheffield United keeper to keep the score 2-2.

Sheffield United: Davies, Baldock, Basham, Egan, Ahmedhodzic, Osborn, Norwood, Fleck (Doyle 58), McAtee (Ndiaye h-t), Brewster (McBurnie 63), Sharp (C) (Khadra 80)

Norwich City: Gunn, Aarons, Hanley (C), Gibson, Giannoulis (Springett 70), Hayden (Gibbs 75), Núñez (Sinani 90), Ramsey (Hernández 75), Cantwell, Pukki, Sargent.
