Shaw sits as the current favourite for the Golden Boot.

With only 7 games to go the race for the WSL golden boot could go down to the wire.

Manchester City’s Khadija “Bunny” Shaw and Aston Villa’s Rachel Daly are currently the closest to battle it out, with only being separated by two goals. Currently on top is Bunny Shaw. So far in Women’s Super League she has 15 goals and has already beaten her total of 9 goals in the whole of last season. She has been a great signing so far for Manchester City in her two years at the club after joining from Bordeaux where she scored 32 goals in 35 games for the French club and has become Jamaica’s all-time top goal scorer.

Rachel Daly is just behind Shaw on 13 goals. The England international is in her first season at Villa after her move in 2022 from Houston Dash after six years at the club. Despite Daly being on scoring form, she plays in the defence for her country, although she insists, she is happy to play anywhere for England.

Behind Shaw and Daly is Alessia Russo. She had scored 8 goals for Manchester United and although there are seven goals separating Shaw and Russo, it will take a lot if Shaw continues to rack up the goals, but the race is not over yet.

Chelsea’s Sam Kerr has won the last two golden boots after scoring 21 goals in 2021/21 and 20 goals last season. She won her first golden boot in her first season in the WSL after her move to England from America where she played for Chicago Red Stars. The Australian International was among one of the favourites coming into this season to make it a hattrick of golden boots but has not been in the best form this season after scoring just seven goals and being joint with Tottenham’s Bethany England and Liverpool’s Katie Stengel. With not long left until the WSL season finishes it will be very close with who will get their hands on the trophy at the end of the season.
