Quakers lose key player

In the last week or so, Darlington football club has lost key player Adriano Moke as he leaves by mutual consent to start he next journey and joins Hednesford.



On Friday 22nd march Darlington Football Club came to an agreement to end the contract of Adriano Moke. The agreement came about through mutual consent and his absence will be noticed by all, both fans and players on the pitch.



Throughout the course of his career Moke has won silverware in the past including the FA trophy twice and winning promotions into the next league. The midfielder was born in Portugal began he future in football at Yorkshire club Leeds United before going onto working with Nottingham Forest. After playing in the UK for some time, he travelled to Spain where he spent a season in Jerez concluding having a successful run at Glenn Hoddle Soccer School. Upon his return to England he joined now national league club York. During his time at York he helped his team get promotion and win at Wembley. He has been a part of York City Fc's team both times they have gotten the promotion. The first in 2012 and the second in 2016. His times between each spell at York he played for Tamworth, Macclesfield, Halifax, Stockport, Wrexham and Boreham Wood. He also aided York in winning the trophy again five years ago in 2017. At the end of the 2019/2020 season Adriano Moke transferred to north east club Spennymoor Town however he left at the end of 2022 where he joined Darlington football club under the manager at the time, Alun Armstrong.



When it came to Moke's departure, Darlington's current manager, Steve Watson supported the move and has backed his player throughout the process.


In an interview Watson said, "I've worked previously with Adriano and really admire him as a player and as a person." He then goes onto to talk about his lack of time on the pitch and Adriano personally. Watson continues to talk about saying,"I personally want to take this opportunity to wish him all the best going forward -- cheers, Mokes!"
