Week two in the Barclay Women’s Championship saw more exciting football, with Crystal Palace and Bristol City maintaining their winning streaks!
Palace opened the weekend with an impressive 3-0 win over Coventry United, with Molly-Mae Sharpe, Annabel Blanchard and Elise Hughes all contributing to the score line.
The Stadium of Light held Birmingham City’s first win of the season against Sunderland. Harriet Scott led the way with a goal in the first half, shortly followed by Siobhan Marie Wilson, Ashley Hodson and Jamie Finn finding the net in the second half.
Courtney Sweetman-Kirk secured Sheffield United the three points, after two successful strikes against Durham.
The second day of football welcomed a second victory for Bristol City, this time over Blackburn Rovers. A dominating first half at the Robins High Performance Centre- their first home game of the season- saw Shania Hayles and Emily Syme secure another three points.
An extremely close run between Charlton and London City ended in a 3-4 loss for Charlton. The Oakwood hosted these impressive goals from Charlton players Simpkins, Follis and Henson, and London City’s Napier, Primus, Rodgers and Agg.
Lewes and Southampton concluded another great week of football with a 2-2 draw at The Dripping Pan. Hazard and Hack helped lead the way for Lewes going into the break, however Morris and Rafferty had other plans entering the pitch again, creating an impressive comeback.
