With rumours about a move away from sunny London, Raheem Sterling might need to hold some new discussions with his team, whilst Cole Palmer is loving life in Blue. Cementing a Premeir League legacy could be on the mind for both, but a move to the Middle East might just be too good not to accept for one.
Saudi Arabia has been a dream destination for many top stars in the past few transfer windows for obvious reasons, with other Chelsea regulars such as Kalidou Koulibaly and Edouard Mendy joining Al-Hilal and Al-Alhi just last summer. Raheem Sterling is rumoured to be the latest out the club and on his way to the Arabian peninsula with young talent on the block slightly ahead in the pecking order at Chelsea.
When a £47.5 million price tag is placed on a 27 year old player with ten years experience in the Premier league and countless trophies, it can be seen as a relatively decent bargain. But, the 2014 golden boy has been a shadow of his former self. Since transitioning from baby blue to royal blue in 2022, his first 18 months at the club have been disapointing at times but with the club being in the current state that it is - a bundle of unpredictability - it can be hard for any player to find a positive rhythm. Well, that's usually the case, except for Cole Palmer, who we'll get onto. The London raised star is turning 30 this year, so a contract renewal from the Chelsea board may be off the cards.
Once a thrillingly dynamic and tricky winger, Raheem Sterling used to be one of the first names to be picked on the international stage for Gareth Southgate's England team. Altered by his teammates performances, Sterling has missed out on the England call up the last few times and will be wanting to get back in contention for the squad as the Euros are just around the corner. If that was to happen then Sterling needs to find a purple patch of form to convince the England coach that he still has great assests to add to the national team.
However, Chelsea's future remains bright as 21 year old Cole Palmer leads the pack for goals in his first season at the club. Having progressed through Manchester City's academy and approved by Pep Guardiola, the treble winner wanted to guarantee more minutes consistently in which Chelsea agreed, so a switch down south was a no brainer. Achieving his first England cap in mid November last year, Palmer has been a diamond in the rough at the Bridge and with plenty of time to devlop under Pochettino, the talented winger could be an educated selection for Southgate in the summer.
The pair share both sides of Chelsea's attack and both are wanting to impress their coaches for a spot on the pitch for cub and country. Although, allegations about Raheem Sterling and Saudi Arabia were surfacing the internet, he quickly rejected the 'eye-watering' contract and has no intent in leaving Chelsea. Palmer is consistetly showing his quality but are both able to pair up week after week with talents such as Mykhailo Mudryk and Noni Madueke breathing heavily down their neck?
