Norwich vs AFC Bournemouth Match Report

Norwich City lost to AFC Bournemouth on penalties in a thrilling encounter at Carrow Road and saw Bournemouth go into the hat for the next round of the cup after drawing 2-2 in extra time.


Norwich started with a lot of the procession in the game but it really not going anywhere they had a few chances but was quite easily blocked by the Bournemouth defence and keeper.


Then in the 22nd minute Gabriel Sara dribbled through the Bournemouth defence then took a shot which was comfortably saved by Neto in the Bournemouth net. But on the rebound Jordan Hugill blasted into the back of the net to put the Canaries 1-0 up in the cup tie.


But just seconds before the half time whistle Bournemouth dribbled through the Norwich defence far too easily and should have been cleared but wasn’t and Sadee found himself one on one too a shot but comfortably saved by Angus Gunn but was put straight unto the path of Emiliano Marcondes who put into the back of the net.


Norwich made 2 subs halftime which saw Kenny Mclean and Sam Byram who has made his first minutes after his injury and they were replaced by Max Aarons and Liam Gibbs.

Bournemouth enjoyed a lot of the procession in the 2nd half and dominated the ball and then they tried to get a few shots off but Angus Gunn made a lot of saves to keep Norwich in the tie.


Then Norwich changed the tactics and went very high pressing leaving a lot of space in the midfield and wings and Bournemouth seized the opportunity and got a shot of by Emiliano Marcondes but Gunn was there to make a massive save to keep it at a draw.


Then in the 81st minute Norwich found themselves with the ball and Pukki dribbled into the box and gave himself some space and saw he could square the ball to Idah who made sure that he put the ball in the back of the net.


Norwich gave Bournemouth far too many opportunities to get forwards with the ball and also put far too many into the box but on the 92nd minute finally a Bournemouth cross found Genesini who put it in on the half volley to draw the game in regular time.


Then Norwich go on to lose 5-3 on penalties to send the very Few Bournemouth fans through to the next round of the cup. They also face the prospect of a trip to Anfield to play Liverpool.


Norwich then face a very long trip north to Sunderland for the lunch time kick off live on sky.
