Norwich make it four unbeaten as they overcome Birmingham

Onel Hernandez sends the away end into pandemonium as he nets a 93rd minute winner which helped Norwich to gain the three points and also then sees them now up to 2nd place and just 1 point behind early season leaders Sheffield United.

The Norwich City side saw 2 changes made to the starting 11 after the win away at Sunderland that saw the injured youngster Liam Gibbs replaced by Aaron Ramsey who made his debut against his parent clubs rivals and the 2nd change saw Onel Hernandez dropped to the bench for Sam Byram.

Norwich started the game like they usually would by making lots of short slick passes and Marcelino Nunez saw a lot of the ball as he then tried to create chances for the front 3 also both of the changes were involved with a lot of the quality moves in the first 10 minutes.

The first big opportunity fell to Norwich after the 12th minute with a few slick moves down the right hand side before Max Aarons found an unmarked Kieran Dowell who hit the ball first time but it went narrowly past the post.

The game after this there was very little action in the sense of goal scoring opportunities. Norwich still did what they have been known for this season keeping and moving the ball about the pitch.

A very fired up Sam Byram raced onto a very good pass from Daniel Sinani, but it was stopped by the former Canaries keeper John Ruddy who was playing in goal for Birmingham. Just moments after that Josh Sargent muscled his way through the Birmingham defence but saw his shot from a tight angle cleared off the line.

After just 5 minutes in the 2nd half the Birmingham fans saw their team go 1-0 thanks to a goal that was converted by Scott Hogan leaving Norwich with plenty of work to do. Troy Deeney then fired the ball over the bar as the hosts enjoyed a lot of the possession.

Then after withstanding the Birmingham attacking period Dean Smith made 2 subs which saw Daniel Sinani who had a below par game to his standards be replaced by Teemu Pukki. The 2nd sub saw Kieran Dowell come off for Onel Hernandez.

Then just minutes after saw a Norwich free kick taken by Marcelino Nunez free kick was saved by a flying Ruddy who couldn’t clear the ball and I fell for Andrew Omobamidele who made sure that he fired the ball into the back of the net to equalise for the Canaries.

Hernandez then went on to get a lot of the ball and tried to create a lot of chances to put the Canaries back Infront. He then put a ball into the box for Pukki who could only fire it wide of the goal.

Norwich then continued to pressure Birmingham having plenty of the ball and a few chances and then deep into stoppage time Krul had made a long ball up the pitch which Pukki managed to control the ball before feeding Hernandez who was then through on goal and then made sure he placed the ball into the back of the net and went through the keepers legs.

This now sent the 1,685 Norwich fans into absolute scenes in the 93rd minute after watching the abysmal football last season. Things are starting to look up for Norwich after 4 league wins in a row.
