Norwich come away with victory after 300 mile round trip.

The Canaries made the 312 mile round trip to the AESSEAL New York Stadium backed by a crowd of over 2,000 Canaries fans to face a Rotherham United side who had lost 3 of the last 4 games going into the match.

Norwich City made 3 changes from the draw mid-week to QPR and that saw the return of Josh Sargent, Max Aarons and Kenny Mclean back into the starting 11. It saw Norwich play with a front 2 which has been a long time coming. Norwich take up 4-3-1-2 formation where as Tuesday they played with a 4-2-3-1.

Rotherham United made 3 changes to their starting 11 after losing in heart-breaking fashion away at Burnley mid-weekthis saw Richard Wood, Jamie Lindsay and Peter Kioso be introduced to the starting 11 hoping to get a massive 3 points.

The first half started typically like a lot of Norwich games this season when they like to start off dominating the ball and possession for the opening few minutes and saw the Canaries string together some good passes together but it was the hosts who went closest first when Brooke Norton-Cuffy got the balled played to him down the left touchline he then swung a deep cross into the back post and it found Peter Kioso who diverted the ball but it scrapped the outside of the goal post.

Jacob Ramsey played a very good long pass which sent Josh Sargent running through on goal and just before he went to take shot on target, he was brought down inside the box by Richard Wood, but the referee was having none of it and waved play on.

Norwich then went on to finally settle and keep the ball and move it about the pitch very well and finally started to find gaps in the Rotherham midfield area. After a lovely flick on from Gabriel Sara it found Max Aarons who then fed it back to Sara who was making a over lapping run and layed up Teemu Pukki who had his shot blocked but it fell for Kenny Mclean who made sure he headed it home to put the Canaries 1-0 after 16 Minutes of the first half.

Norwich dominated the possession for the rest of the half and they had 2 notable shots which saw Gabriel Sara swing a cross into the box and it found Josh Sargent’s head and it went just wide of the post. The 2nd chance which saw Teemu Pukki pass the ball to Sam McCallum who shot went wide of the goal.

Rotherham United came out in 2the 2nd half all guns blazing and scored after a sloppy pass from Gabriel Sara was intercepted by Rathbone which then found himself with space on the edge of the box and he put into the bottom corner past a diving Angus Gunn to help the Millers equalise at 1-1.

Norwich then almost straight after conceding Josh Sargent had his long distance effort saved by a diving Viktor Johansson who made the initial save but the ball fell perfectly for Jacob Ramsey who made sure he buried the ball into the back of the net to put the Canaries ahead again.

Rotherham then enjoyed a lot of the possession but could not do anything with the ball after really good but comfortable defending from Norwich saw them close out the game and take all 3 points back to Norfolk.
