New Year, New transfers!

Just one week after the transfer market opened, there have been many players either moving to the WSL from external clubs or from one WSL side to another.

Jordan Nobbs- Aston Villa

Arsenal Legend Jordan Nobbs said her goodbyes last week at Arsenal after 12 incredible years. An emotional farewell message was spread across her social media, with many expressing their appreciation for everything the midfielder has done for the club.

The 29 year old's new adventure at Aston Villa will offer more consistent game time, where she will play alongside Lionesses teammate Rachel Daly.

Bethany England- Tottenham Hotspur

Another shocking transfer came from Bethany England, in her search for more game time ahead of the Women’s World Cup, where she landed London club Spurs. 7 years, 164 appearances, 74 goals and 10 trophies later, England has departed her beloved club Chelsea.

This record breaking deal of £250,000 is set to benefit both Bethany in her performances and recognition, but also Tottenham (who are currently in 8th), as her goal scoring ability is hopeful to stop their goal drought.

Guro Bergsvand- Brighton & Hove Albion

The 28 year old Norway defender has signed a contract with Brighton until June 2025 from SK Brann Kvinner.

This WSL team are currently second to bottom after just two wins this season, so Guro’s quality shown for both club and country should stabilise Brighton’s defence.

Victoria Pelova- Arsenal

Netherlands midfielder Pelova joins Arsenal, with the hope to lift the trophy with the club at the end of the season. Although previously at Ajax, a rival club during the Champions League, Pelova’s admiration for her opposition has now turned into her respect for teammates.

The 23 year old has made 66 appearances and scored 11 goals for Ajax since joining in 2019. After Arsenal’s injury crisis, this transfer has occurred at a crucial time.

The transfer window remains open for another few weeks. Who do you want to see at your WSL club?
