Argentina faced South Africa in what would be an intense and gruelling match for both Nations as both are yet find a win in the 2023 Women's World Cup
The first ten minutes of the game saw both teams show fighting spirit in an attempt to get 3 points for their nation. South Africa had held pressure onto Argentina but coming to end of the 10 minutes we saw Argentina attempting to flip that narrative. Thembi Kgatlana had made herself present in the game from the very start with some incredibly playmaking. One of them earning South Africa their first goal as she tapped the ball to Mothalo who made an incredible run down the centre who managed to pop it into the net.
South Africa continued to turn up the heat in the first half as their possessive attacking play were becoming challenging for Argentina to compete with. In the extra time of the first half we saw South Africa score another goal for their nation but was unfortunately deemed offside by the officials. Soon as the second half had begun South Africa had an enormous chance to score it as Thembi Kgatlana was in the centre of the box as she received the ball but had unfortunately scuffled her chance of changing the score tally.
Kgatlana makes up for it though as she makes it 2-0 in the 62nd minute and she received the ball in the centre again and rockets it into the back of the net. Argentina have struggled to find their footing in the game thus far but that is all about to change.
In the 74th minute of the game Sophie Braun scores an unbelievable goal that had changed the dynamic of the game going forward completely. It could arguably become the goal of the tournament. Dynamics had switched as Argentina were ready to prove to South Africa that the game had certainly not finished yet.
Just minutes after Argentina's first goal Nunez manages to make it 2-2 with a header from around the penalty spot into the back of the net.
And with that, the game had come to an end. A fantastic game to watch for the neutrals but will certainly be a painful one for South African fans. Both nations go back into their group with a point each with both clubs still searching for a win.
