Match Preview: Peterborough United Women take on league rivals Stourbridge Women in the FA Cup.

On Sunday, Peterborough United Women face Stourbridge Women in the first round of the Vitality Women’s FA Cup. The Posh welcome the visitors to Abbey Lawn in what is expected to be an action pack first round tie.

Both sides have faced each other already this season in the FA Women's National League with the visitors, Stourbridge, coming out on top with a 4-0 win. However, Peterborough are looking to further themselves in this competition and with the magic of the FA Cup and their home crowd behind them, anything is possible.

Last season was the first time Peterborough Women reached the first round of FA Cup in the club’s history so The Posh are determined to further themselves in this competition and push to the next round.

Top of the table side, Stourbridge, are on good form with eight wins out of nine in the league. Stourbridge’s player in form is league top goal scorer, Niamh Deasy, who has scored sixteen goals in twelve appearances in the Women’s National League Midlands. Deasy will be looking to add to her goal tally in this upcoming FA Cup fixture against Peterborough.

For the Posh, a few injuries remain in the squad with forward Zaiga Lacite expected to miss the fixture after an injury against Mansfield Town Ladies in the last round. But Kier Perkins and Cassie Stewart will be looking to get their names on the score sheet.

With both sides wanting to further themselves in this competition and push to the next round it is shaping up to be an entertaining fixture with a number of supporters looking to back both sides.
