Liverpool Women vs Villa Match Report

Rachel Daly’s second half penalty secured the victory over Liverpool at Prenton Park.

Villa had the better chances of the first half when Alisha Lehmann was denied in a one on one by Laws with a vital touch and saw her shot hit off the post.

The Reds came close with 10 to play of this half and created their best chance when Good hold up play from Stengel allowed her to play back to Koivisto who dribbled her way past 3 players with her attempt just wide of goal.

Villa started off the 2nd half on top, however fell behind 10 minutes in. Hanson chased onto a through ball with Laws running out of her goal and catching her opponent with the referee pointing to the spot.

England International Daly stepped up and fired her shot down the middle to break the deadlock.

The Reds continued to pile on the pressure in search of an equaliser with villa defending well to allow them little opportunities.

In stoppage time, substitute Rhiannon Roberts whipped in a cross that found Koivisto who volleyed just wide.

That win moves Villa up to sixth with struggling Liverpool winless in five.
