Juventus Women 1-1 Arsenal Women: Vivianne Miedema’s second half goal secures Arsenal top spot in th

Arsenal kept their 100 percent record in the Champions League with a draw away from home against Juventus Women.

Arsenal remain top of Group C, after Vivianne Miedema scored a header from an Arsenal set piece.

The Gunners started the game well with multiple chances from Frida Maanum and captain Jordan Nobbs. Arsenal’s high press allowed multiple chances for Maanum, but she couldn’t find the opening goal for the Gunners.

It was the home side, Juventus, who broke the deadlock in the second half with Juventus forward, Lineth Beerensteyn. The Dutch international broke through the Arsenal defence on the counterattack and calmly slipped the ball past the Arsenal keeper and into the bottom left corner.

Nine minutes later Arsenal responded with an equaliser in the 60th minute. Miedema’s header from an Arsenal corner found it way into the Juventus net which bought Arsenal back into the game.

After the equaliser Arsenal fought back to get all three points with numerous chances from Miedema but it wasn’t meant to be for the Gunners as Juve’s defence held out to end the game as a draw.

The draw keeps Arsenal top of group C and two points ahead of Juventus and three points ahead of French side Lyon. Arsenal will now be looking to keep their top position in table with a win against Juventus at home in the return fixture in the Champions League.

For Arsenal their next Champions League fixture will be a group stage game against Juventus at the Emirates Stadium. And for the WSL Arsenal will take on eighth place Everton at home on December 3rd.
