The list has grown once again with city dutch midfielder Jill Roord suffering an ACL injury during the game against Manchester United at the Joie Stadium in the Conti cup.
In 2023 there was 161 known ACL injuries in professional women's football . With Chelsea star Sam Kerr also being sidelined with an anterior cruciate ligament injury, that makes two well known starters in the women's super league already out for potentially the rest of the 23/24 season.
But who will they use as a replacement for Roord? It seems Gareth Taylor is looking to sign a additional midfielder to strengthen the city attack for the remainder of the season. It is rumoured Laura Blindkilde Brown may join on a loan deal from aston villa. The youngster is a regular villa starter with 8 out of 12 games, being a key midfeilder in the squad.
With the transfer deadline fast approaching, will city sign a replacement or will they use some of there younger talents like Chelsea have been making use of. Filippa Angeldahl replaced Roord during their clash against Tottenham, so perhaps if they miss out on signing a new player the Swedish will be called in to start for the remainder of the season.
