Improving Norwich Frustrated By Wigan In 1-1 Draw At Carrow Road

Norwich City went into this game on the back of a defeat away to Cardiff on the opening day of the season.

They started the game off very well and for the first 20 mins looked to be the more dominant of the 2 teams they was stringing together 1 and 2 touch passes which was one of the criticisms from their performance last week.

Norwich managed to get their first shot on target in the 8th minute Teemu Pukki was then through in goal and made a very familiar run for his expectations. He let the shot of but it was superbly blocked by the Wigan defender Curtis Tilt. Pukki went on to then have a 2nd shot not long after that but missed the post very narrowly.

Max Aarons again was able to dribble through the middle of the pitch and he now finds space on the edge of the box who decided to take a shot but again misses the target and this is a frequent in the first 20 minutes lots of shots but not one of them challenged Wigan keeper Ben Amos.

Then just after 25-minute mark Wigan have found themselves through on goal after Norwich lost the ball. Wigan player Jason Kerr was through on goal, but Tim Krul was very quick off his line and made a decent save to help keep Norwich in the game.

Then not long after that Wigan found themselves able to capitalise on a silly mistake from Ben Gibson that they were able to take the ball and James McClean buried it into the bottom corner to put Wigan ahead completely against the run of play. After the goal went in Wigan capitalised and seemed a lot more fired up and had the edge in the last 10 mins of the 2nd half.

Wigan again started again just as fired up as before half time they had an opportunity through Tilt who won the ball and then had a shot on goal which was denied by a full stretch Tim Krul.

Then not long after that an absolute horror tackle was made on Dimi Giannoulis just before the 60 min mark and he was stretchered off and then replaced with a retuning Sam McCullum.

Norwich then used that injury to fire them up as not long after that Norwich made some slick passes and also a good pass from Rashica to Aarons and then was able to shoot and put them into the back of the net to level the game.

Also, not long after this another horror tackle was made by a Wigan Player and it saw Max Aarons go down injured and this made sure that Norwich New signing Gabriel Sara. But Aarons did walk away but as the post-match pictures showed the battle scars.

Norwich City will be looking to use Tuesday night cup game to test out some different tactics and also player combinations but they will want the same outcome they want to win and they can then use that as momentum going into the weekend when they face the long trek up to Hull.
