It may only be the 10th of January, but Tottenham Hotspur are getting their business done early with the club announcing Timo Werner's arrival on loan with an option to buy from RB Leipzig on Monday evening and Dragusin arriving in London for his medical with Tottenham Hotspur.
The signing of Timo Werner seems to be the most curious for Tottenham fans, but could also be a smart piece of business especially for the short term. Tottenham have been exposed this season mainly through their injury concerns which are starting to be slowly reversed now with Bentancur and Van Der Ven coming back into the squad and James Maddison set to return to full team training next week. With Werner comng in, this could provide more depth within their attacking qualities, especially considering their captain, Son who has been instrumental so far for them this season is now in the Asian Cup.
This is important to note as Werner is a versatile attacker who can play all across the front line and even in an attacking midfield role if needed. With Maddison still to come back and Lo Celso's fitness in question, Postecoglou could very well start Werner in that role behind Richarlison should he need to at Old Trafford.
What Werner offers is explosive speed, which could be crucial to the speed of their attacks in the second half of the season. Fans may be skeptical over how clinical Werner will be in front of goal given his history with Chelsea in the Premier League. However, Postecoglou has been someone who has had the trust of the supporters since his appointment last summer.
The signing that has garnered more of a universally receptive response has been Romanian defender Radu Dragusin. Dragusin has had major interest all around from major teams, including Bayern Munich, who attempted to hijack the deal before the 24 year old later stayed with the original promise he gave to Tottenham after a verbal agreement was reached two weeks prior.
This is a real sign of relief for Tottenham fans as injuries ans suspensions to their backline have caused them to play sometimes a whole backline of full backs with Emerson Royal and Ben Davies having been converted to centre backs, especially after the suspensions and injuries to Cristian Romero and the lengthy injury of Mickey Van Der Ven. The signing of Dragusin has been discussed with curiosity though on social media as fans are unsure where he goes now that players are returning from their injuries. There has been speculation of a back three or if he is going to be rotated in and out of the squad.
Dragusin's talents have been undeniable however so far this season as he has been an aerial assassin for strikers, having won the third most aerial duels with 59 and the third most headed clearances with 45, showing his dominance in the air, which is a key against certain strikers who dominate in the air, such as Erling Haaland, who will also be facing Spurs at the end of the month in the FA Cup.
Spurs' transfer business so far has meant that they have acquired more quality and depth with many players parting temporarily from the club in January. This business has been seen from fans as smart and savvy and could give them a clear chance at a run in the FA Cup or a chance at a first Premier League title for the Lilywhites.
