How can Chelsea remain consistent?

Pochettino's Blue's have had contradictory season to say the least. Many false starts and wrong turns have caused many fans to lose hope, but with reassurance from Mr Boehly and a few tweaks in personnel, could Chelsea be back in contention for Europe in the coming seasons?

Unsatisfactory is probably a word many Chelsea fans would use to describe the majority of this season. Extremely average performances against bottom half opposition have hindered the reputation of what Chelsea once was, the pride of Kings Road.

Although the results have not been up to scratch, Mauricio Pochettino is unnerved about a possible departure as club owners (Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali) expressed their hope in the Argentinian as he received a 'very good text' from them after the second-rate performance against a clinical Wolves side.

Conversing in the pre-match press against Aston Villa, he explained his ambitions to put bad results aside and swiftly move on.

‘In this type of moment, we are living in a situation that is not nice, we can learn. It is a good opportunity to learn.

‘I told the players today in the meeting that I trust them more than ever. We really trust the players we have. We are going to face this moment and knowing we can move back and win games.’

An extremely talented side full of developing players is not what Chelsea fans are used to. Does Pochettino have a great, malleable and talented players with the capacity to strengthen in the future? Yes.

Does Pochettino have the right bundle of players to produce consistent results right now? The answer to that question is much more speculative.

Chelsea's current squad have had glimples of what they can become and with an experienced coach at the wheel, Chelsea's revival to form may be closer than you think. Players such as Cole Palmer and Malo Gusto have been vital for the blues this year and is proof that Pochettino can get the best from some of his young players.

However, above average performanaces have been far and few this season as they lack real consistency in style of play and their ability to keep an organised line up ( injuries are partially responsible).

If Pochettino can cement his style of play and play with a regular starting 11, then the Blue's could have much more joy overcoming their opponents rather than providing unenthusiastic possesion based football.

With help from Connor Gallagher and Enzo Fernandez, Chelsea have now won two on the bounce in all competitions after an unconvincing win over Crystal Palace last night. Will Chelsea take these wins into their stride or will they stumble at the first hurdle?
