Group F: This Year's Group Of Death

Group F was considered the group of death for this year's UEFA Champions League, consisting of Paris Saint Germain, Borussia Dortmund, Ac Milan & Newcastle United, and before this year's tournament began, many had already predicted their favourites for the group and the same faces were seen as the instant favourites however this is a group that has had its fair share of shocks and upsets and with ol and with 3 points between Dortmund in 1st and Newcastle in 4th, leaving it all to play for.

Paris Saint Germain vs Newcastle

PSG began Matchday 5 in 2nd place in the group needing to win to guarantee extending their European journey this season, and their previous meeting with Newcastle ended in a 4-1 upset at St James Park, unravelling their seemingly straightforward path to the UCL round of 16, so going back to the return fixture at the Parc De Princes, they would hope to gain all three points with the infamous Ultras providing an intimidating atmosphere to help guide their team across the line.

However, Alexander Isak would strike fear into the Parisians, put the Magpies 1-0 up, and sit on this narrow lead for the rest of the game. Despite two penalty shouts for handball from PSG, Newcastle would continue to frustrate the Parisians until a controversial handball that gave Paris a lifeline which Kylian Mbappe slotted past Nick Pope to claw his team back into contention moving them up to the second place and put them in 2nd place needing a win against Dortmund to guarantee a place in the knockout stages, Newcastle n the other hand it will be an uphill task as they will need to win against Milan and still have a chance to qualify for the knockouts for either champions league or Europa league.

AC Milan vs Borussia Dortmund

The previous meeting between these two teams was certainly one to forget as it ended in a 0-0 stalemate; however, the return at the San Siro would provide the ultimate viewing experience; an early penalty to Milan would give the Rossoneri a lifeline; however, a weak shot by the often reliable Olivier Giroud was easily saved, Marco Reus however would take his chance and score his penalty and Dortmund would boss the first half until burst of speed from Samuel Chuckweze to score and level the game.

However, despite the slow start to the second half for Dortmund, they held firm with two goals between the 60th and 70th minute to ultimately seal all 3 points and move ahead of PSG with 10 points, only needing a draw if they are top the group by the end of matchday 6, however, on the other hand, AC Milan have a slim lifeline as with PSG drawing with Newcastle they are joint on points so it will be a must-win for Milan in Newcastle. However, given how easy it was for the magpies to beat PSG in their own back yard it will be an uphill battle for the Rossoneri if they are to continue some form of European campaign this season.

This has been one of the best groups in this year's Champions League campaign providing twists and turns in each matchday; the final one in a few weeks' time will certainly be unmissable, especially Newcastle vs AC Milan, as a win for either side is vital if they are to continue their respective European journeys and both still have a slim chance of stealing the last remaining champions league spot from Paris if the result in that game goes in their favour.
