An exciting weekend of FA Cup football saw many goals, debuts and opportunities for upcoming clubs in the women's game.
Lowest ranked side Cardiff City beat Northern Premier side Burnley 4-1 to send them through to the last 16. The Welsh club, who play in tier 4 of the English System, are the only club outside of the Women’s championship and WSL left in the competition where they will face Championship side Lewes in the next round.
Championship side Birmingham City knock out WSL side Everton after a 1-0 win. Jade Pennock’s 2nd half goal was the difference as the blues pull off a huge win. They will face Charlton Athletic in the next round after the Addicks beat tier 4 opposition AFC Wimbledon.
Elsewhere Coventry, Bristol City, Lewes and Durham are the other tier 2 sides left in the competition.
Aston Villa had the biggest win of the round with an 11-0 win vs AFC Fylde, while there was other big results with Arsenal winning 9-0 to Leeds United and both Manchester City and Brighton winning their games 7-0.
Arsenal will take on rivals Chelsea in the round of 16 after Sam Kerr’s hattrick sent Chelsea through against Liverpool in a 5 goal thriller. The remaining WSL teams left are Manchester United, West Ham, Spurs and Reading.
