Darlington's Away Win

The north eastern team Darlington FC has had their biggest win so far of the season last Saturday, 17th of February. After having not the best season at all they came out on top when they faced local rival South Shields. However they are still in a difficult position in the table.

The game was hosted at South Shields which we kicked off at 15:00 and was played at the First Cloud Arena. Darlo won this fixture 4-0. The first goal was scored in the 71st minute of the game by Hatfield. This was closely followed by main four minutes later. In a tense final minute at 89 minutes Griffiths added to the scored sheet which was followed by Curry at 90+4 minutes. After a rocky start with little happening in the terms of goals this match could have gone either way. However with new loan signing Matty Young he was sure to keep any goals out with a clean sheet on his debut for the club.

Matty Young previously played for Sunderland and is due to return to them after a few weeks on loan at current club Darlington. The goalkeeper is highly rated at Sunderland and will no doubting will be the same at darlo. For the games in the near future Matty Young will be the 1st keeper so he gets his game time along with the fact that their regular keeper is currently absent due to injury. Darlington's well known and favoured keeper Tommy Taylor is currently out due to an injury he sustained to his rib. There has been no date set yet for his return.

Today, Tuesday 20th February Darlington play Boston United in another away game. Boston sit 9th in the table for the vanarama national league north. This is a whole 14 places above Darlington. To avoid relegation to the lower league Darlington now need to start winning as many games as they can. Looking firwars to this next game Darlington have three key players who will not be playing due to injuries. These players include Tommy Taylor goalkeeper, Jake Lawlor defender and Akwasi Asante striker.

Tonight Darlington are going to be striving for their first back to back wins this season.
