Championship side face WSL contenders

This week women football fans are treated to an exciting London rivalry in the conti cup which sees top side arsenal play tenth place championship side London city lionesses. On the 7th of February last season Conti cup winners, arsenal will travel to Princes Park in dartford for a 7pm kick off under the lights.

Arsenal will be looking to improve after their last performance disappointed against west ham with them losing 2-1 in the league over the weekend, however London city's recent form is not where they would like to be. Tenth place in the league but their squad is quickly growing with the summer signings of Ruesha Littlejohn and Danielle Carter who will bring experience and depth to the young squad. This game on paper may seem easy for arsenal but as we all know in football nothing ever is. with arsenals injury list slowly decreasing they will be looking to win the game with no injuries and hopefully giving some younger academy players the chance to prove themselves.
The last time these two teams came head to head was in 2022 during the fourth round of the FA cup which resulted in a 1-0 win with Miedema putting arsenal ahead in the 44th minute, since then London city have gained crucial players and staff which will defiantly help during this crucial tie. The winning team will progress onto the semi finals, tomorrow we will know the final four teams after all games.

The other games being played on Wednesday will be; brighton vs Aston Villa, Chelsea vs sunderland and Tottenham vs manchester City. It's an exciting time for all teams involved especially those who are outside the WSL as they will gain media attention and vital cup experience for future games. As every women football fan knows, arsenal will for sure bring the supporters for the game with it being sold out in both home and away stands.
