Noelle Maritz has completed a permanent transfer to Women's Super League side Aston Villa after three and a half years at Arsenal.
The 28-year-old has signed a two-and-a-half-year deal with the option of a further year at Villa Park.
Maritz has been falling down the pecking order at Arsenal, with only 8 appearances for the Gunners this season, making this move to the Villains a smart one for the talented full-back.
Maritz joined Arsenal in July 2020 from VFL Wolfsburg, making her debut for the Gunners in the Champions League quarter-final against Paris Saint-Germain a month later.
The full-back made 92 total appearances for Arsenal, scoring 2 goals.
Noelle Maritz featured in the Gunners' starting line-up of the 2023 Women's Continental Tyres League Cup Final, when they beat Chelsea 3-1 and lifted the silverware.
She largely plays at right-back but is also a very capable left-back. However, with Steph Catley and Katie McCabe to compete against at Arsenal, Maritz fell out of Jonas Eidevall's strongest starting XI.
Maritz plays internationally for Switzerland, with 113 caps under her belt.
Noelle Maritz qualified with the Swiss national team for the 2015 World Cup, featuring in the starting XI in each of their four matches at the tournament.
She also played all three group games in the 2022 Euros, as well as starting in Switzerland's four games at the 2023 World Cup.
Aston Villa manager Carla Ward said "It's a really important signing for us as we continue to develop. She will add quality and experience to an evolving backline and we're delighted she's chosen to continue her journey with us."
With Maritz departing the club, Arsenal are expected to announce the signing of American full-back Emily Fox in the coming days.
