Arsenal are gunning for Chelsea’s top spot at the break.

The Gunners enter the festive break as runner’s up to last season's Champions Chelsea, with 3 points and a game between.

An impressive streak of 5 clean sheets opened Arsenal’s season, with an astonishing 4 goals finding the net in the first win against Brighton & Hove Albion and Spurs in front of a record breaking attendance of over 40,000 fans.

Manuela Zinsberger is truly Arsenal’s saviour, and arguably one of the best personalities and trust worthy players the Gunners have on their side, due to the calmness and support she offers from her line.

West Ham stopped this clean sheet streak at the end of October, but were unable to steal any points.

November saw the Gunner’s only defeat of the season, when Alessia Russo bagged a last minute winner. A defeat in last week’s Manchester Derby puts United one spot below Arsenal.

Vivianne Miedema, Katie McCabe and Jordan Nobbs found the net in the WSL’s 200th game, which finalised Arsenal’s great positioning.

As a result of scoring many goals, Arsenal’s goal difference is impressive. Gooners will appreciate the efforts of their top goal scorers Miedema, Frida Maanum and Stina Blackstenius for all finding the net four times this season.

This strong attacking force shares the goals evenly, which poses the Red Army as a threat to any defensive lines.

The WSL isn’t the only environment that Arsenal has showcased their talent, but also the Champions league.

After 5 group stage games, Arsenal have already qualified for the quarter-finals.

However, this season hasn’t been easy for The Arsenal, as the injured line has grown week on week, with Miedema sadly being the latest addition during last week’s Champions League group stage match.

Skipper Kim Little, as well as Beth Mead and Lina Hurtig are all on the sidelines, with minimal information as to how long they will be. A new contract from Mead is a promising sign for the club.

England captain Leah Williamson recently returned to the pitch, showcasing her leadership qualities.

This change in Arsenal’s dynamic creates concern for the New Year, especially with the first game back on January the 15th being against Emma Hayes’ side. The three points will be crucial for either team to maintain on top, so Arsenal will need this to overtake the defending Champions.

Will Arsenal be able to go top in the New Year?
